You know how in the movie Soul, 22 takes him to the “zone” room where people on Earth are in the middle of achieving their life’s purpose and quite literally are in “the zone?” Well, that’s how I feel when I help Millennial women figure their money stuff out. I love every part of it…
- the digging part – ok what do your monthly expenses really look like?
- the emotional part – girl, I see you. It’s freakin’ hard out there, especially for us.
- the fixing part – so here are your literal next steps, spelled out in laymen’s terms and prioritized.
- the breakthrough part – your relief, motivation and excitement relieve, motivate and excite me just as much. Yes ma’am, we got this!
That’s my zone. And I want you to join me in that zone. I know you want it for yourself too, because literally everyone (again, ESPECIALLY Millennial—or those who are juggling 12 things at a time–women) has some type of financial burden or puzzle they are working through.
Solutions aren’t always solved over night, and I think that is part of the resistance to reaching out for help. It’s not linear. Financial problems are usually circular and involve so many layered parts.
As a fellow elder Millennial woman, I am no stranger to the complicated overthinking and overstressing of any given hurdle. And just because I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ of 8 years, it doesn’t mean I don’t have the same exhausting issues. I just means I’m better equipped (in this category) to tackle money issues.
Let’s talk about what all I offer
Here’s a recent testimonial from a Financial Health Check client:
I highly recommend anyone, no matter your age or financial status, who has any questions or doubts about how to start investing or if they are currently investing wisely, to seek out Danielle and her team’s advice. I work in healthcare so my knowledge of the finance world- common terms used, 401K’s, IRAs, stocks and bonds, etc. – is very limited, but I was encouraged to ask questions and I never felt like anything was over my head. I didn’t feel judged for past poor financial decisions I’ve made nor for my lack of finance knowledge. When our initial meeting concluded I felt very motivated and encouraged about what my future holds. Highly and strongly recommend! – Jacki

How to Choose and Start a Retirement Account
The most universal goal to save for is retirement, or as I like to call it, a “work-optional lifestyle,” so determining how to choose the right retirement account is crucial. Despite this type of investing account being the most prominent and the most talked about, the complexities of the types of accounts and the rules that come with them make them the hardest to navigate. My goal for you is to feel educated and confident on how to choose and start a retirement account by the end of this post.

What I’m Enjoying
Shows: If you are not watching Succession, we cannot be friends. But seriously, GET ON THIS SHOW. It recently ended with it’s final season and I give it a standing ovation. It’s one of the smartest and funniest shows I have watched. Bravo!
Another show I recently watched and liked was The Diplomat. I almost stopped after episode 1, but then I couldn’t stop myself. If you’re into politics set against a love triangle, you will love this show.
Books: Verity. Just…just get your hands on it. I don’t want to share too much, other than it will be the fastest read of your life.
I’m also reading a non-fiction book called Ensemble, which is the structure of our wealth management practice. It’s teaching me a lot about structure and how to grow in a modern direction in this old-fashioned financial industry.
Podcasts: I was recently very impressed and moved by Hilary Rushford’s retelling of her journey of becoming an author and then how it almost ruined her life. It’s a rare glimpse into the fancy literary book world, which may not be relatable at surface, but then you quickly realize it’s a story about grief, accountability and failures that are out of your control.
Music: I am the type of person who will put a song on repeat for weeks at a time until my euphoria turns into disgust. A couple weeks ago, Andres and I had the most fun date night watching the latest (and last) installment of Guardians of the Galaxy, and if you’re a fan, you know they always deliver the best soundtrack. Well there’s a scene where they all go into space wearing rainbow spacesuits and this song starts…and I am immediately transported to 1996. I am 13 years old, a freshman in high school, being driven to school by my cool Senior brother and I don’t have a care in the world other than praying that my brother’s friend smiles at me today.
Come join me in this “zone” 😉
I hope you all have a wet hot American summer ahead of you. We’ll be at a pool as much as possible as I am raising two little fishes and eating lots of old school popsicles. We have a beach trip planned but not until Labor Day weekend, and I’m excited to enjoy the dog days of summer just being home and creating more fun content for y’all.
See you on Instagram and Cheers to summer!
